Knowledge
The course is composed by two different modules of 6 CFU. The first is called "Energetics I: Energy sources and processes". The student who successfully completes the course will have a methodological method to analyze simple and more complex energy systems. Moreover he/she will have the ability to approach the First and Second Law analysis of Energy Systems both based on fossil and renewable energy input. The second module is called "Energy systems and components". The student who successfully complete this second module will posses basic knowledge, skill and methodologies concerning the energy management and the detailed analysis of energy conversion systems both based on fossil fuel and renewable energy.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. - During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression. - The student's ability to explain correctly the main topics presented during the course at the board will be assessed. - In the first part of the examination the student will be invited to solve a simple applied thermodynamic problem (1 hour).
