Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The course is aimed at deepening the knowledge of the most significant experiences of common law, with primary reference to the laws of the United Kingdom and the United States. The study of matter requires knowledge of their general notions of comparative legal, acquired in the study of Comparative Legal Systems and other branches of law.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression.

Syllabus
Special attention is paid to the structure of the system of the sources of law in the jurisdictions considered, in order to highlight the profiles of divergence and those of similarity found in a comparison between common law and civil law. In the course some acts and judgments are analyzed in depth in order to develop the knowledge of the most important features of the common law system.
