Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who complete the course successfully will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the anatomy and phtsiology of the vestibular system. These are the basis to understand the pathology affecting the vestibular system both at peripheral and central level. The goal of this course lead the student to learn the methodolgy necessary to correctly evaluate the patient suffering from vertigo and dizziness. The student will be aware of the modern clinical and instrumental approach for vestibular examination in patients affected by vestibular disease. Finally the student are expected to acquire the basic knowlege of treatment of these pathology, especially regarding the tecnique of vestibular rehabilitation
Assessment criteria of knowledge
During the oral examination the student must be able to demonstrate his knowledge of the notions discussed during the course. The student has to demonstrate his skill in the clinical and instrumental approach and evaluation of patients affected with vestibular disease. Finally, both orally and pratically, the student must demostrate the ability to perform a session of vestibular rehabilitation

Syllabus
The course provides some information regarding the anatomy and ohysiology of the vestibular system. Notion about the physipathology of the main syndromes affecting the central and peripheral vestibular system will be provide. The secon part of the course will be focused on the tecniques of vestibular examination with special emphasis on the so called "bedside examination" and on the devices used to quantify the level of vestibular function.Lastly, some issues regarding the rehabilitative treatment of patients suffering from vestibular diseases are provided, including the method of hearing restore.
