Syllabus
The main aim of this course, which focuses on the Italian context, is the birth and transformation of “enterprise as a historical event” and as a central institution of modern economic development from the Industrial Revolution to our days.
In the first part of the course some key concepts will be briefly analysed, e.g. Manufacturing and the Factory, the First Industrial Revolution, the Factory System, Second and Third Industrial Revolutions. The second part of the course will be focused on the Italian situation, in particular the “double-fronted” characteristic of our industry; the tortuous development of the organisational ability between the State and the Family, the role of industrial networks and the vitality of small and medium-sized enterprises.
