Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will have the abyliti to assist patients before and after surgery ; will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of procedures for preparation of the patient to be operated on and monitoring of post-operative parameters;will be aware of concepts of personal hygiene, diet and methods of treatment of surgical wounds and appropriate post-operative treatments
Assessment criteria of knowledge
During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression. In the written exam (3 hours, choice of 2 essay questions), the student must demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and to organise an effective and correctly written reply.

Syllabus
The content of the course includes teaching general principles in the aseptic surgery at the surgical instruments nursing activities in the operating room to the check-list, the patient's preoperative management, post-operative care, pain management clinical monitoring of vital parameters. It also includes concepts on the management of wounds, Ostomy of the digestive system endoscopic procedures. Finally, the knowledge of various behavioral protocols and procedures to achieve a quality control.
