Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will have the ability to develop design of energy systems based on renewable energies. He/She will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of the operating mode of the various system for conversion of solar, wind, offshore, geothermal, hydroelectric and bioenergy systems. He/She will be aware of direct energy conversion systems (like Fuel Cells and PhotoVoltaic Energy Systems) and systems for energy storage.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. - During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression. - The student's ability to explain correctly the main topics presented during the course at the board will be assessed. - In the written exam, the student must demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and to organise an effective and correctly written reply. - With the written report the student must demonstrate the ability to put into practice and to execute, with critical awareness, the design activity assigned.

Methods:

  • Final oral exam
  • Final written exam
  • Written report

Further information:
The final examination consists of three different parts. A first part is represented by a written report on a specific activity assigned (at the single student or at a group of two or three students) during the semester. Another part is represented by a written individual test. The final part is a final oral exam. The evaluation will be given basing of this specific weight: written report and written text (50%) and final oral exam (50%).
