Knowledge
The student who completes the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the brain mechanisms underlying cholinergic enhancement and its effects on attention and working memory. He or she will acquire knowledge on the neural bases of emotional processing, with a specific focus on emotional pain and the manners in which it may be dealt by the individual. Finally, he or she will be able to demonstrate solid knowledge on the effects of psychotherapeutic interventions on the brain.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology.
During the written exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression

The course covers the following topics: effects of cholinergic enhancement on attention and working memory, scientific findings on the neural bases of emotion, emotional pain, appraisal, forgiveness and psychotherapy.
