Renewable energy sources and geothermics. Origin of terrestrial heat. The heat flow. Conduction and convection. Geothermal anomalies and geodynamics. Relations between volcanism and geothermal energy. The sources of thermal anomalies in the crust, magma chambers in volcanic areas, intrusions, extensional areas. The cooling of magmatic bodies by conduction and convection. The hydrothermal systems. Classification. Systems in volcanic areas, connected systems to intrusion systems connected to relaxing areas. The hydrothermal fluids. Water and gas. Chemical and physical properties. The minerals of hydrothermal alteration. The processes of water-rock interaction, generality Generation of electricity, the main concepts, the Italian and worldwide. Direct uses of geothermal fluids, types of loans (Lindal diagram), situation and perspectives. Environmental impact related to exploration and production of geothermal fluids.
