Learning outcomes
Knowledge
Each student succesfully completing this course should get the ability to implement the basic knowledges related to neurology and psychiatry, namely the most relevant neurological and psychiatric disorders, their natural evolution, the basic instruments for their diagnosis, and their outcome. Along with these fundamental issues, the student should gain the ability to differentiate clinical symptoms and signs related to neuropsychiatric diseases, thus improving the management of each different medical condition.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the appropriate aspects of the main topics presented during the course, by a correct identification of the written questions and answers during the final exam.

The final evaluation consists in a written examination dealing with the main features of the neurological diseases and psychiatric disorders.

Syllabus
Definition, Epidemiology, Aetiology and Pathophysiology, Clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment and Prognosis of: Epilepsies, Multiple Sclerosis, Dementias, Parkinson Disease, Headache, Disorders of the peripheral nervous system. Depression, Anxiety spectrum, Psychoses, Basic psychopathology, Sleep disorders, Tests and Scales for their measure.
Bibliography
Recommended reading includes the slide files produced for each lesson, attendance at the practical instruments used in clinical practice.
