Knowledge
The student who completes the course successfully will acquire basic medical knowledge of clinical medicine and psycho-neuro-endocrinology. This allows students to have the range of competences necessary to communicate effectively with patients and with staff from other disciplines and to work within multi-disciplinary teams. By the end of the course students should follow a programme of instruction in basic clinical method and receive an introduction to patient investigation and clinical reasoning.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology.
During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression.
The student's ability to explain correctly the main topics presented during the course at the board will be assessed.

Syllabus
The course provides basic medical knowledge of clinical medicine on the main topics of physiology and pathology (cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors, essential hypertension, metabolic diseases, immune system and rheumatologic diseases, disorders of the gastro-intestinal tract, alcohol abuse and tabagism, acute vs chronic pain, etc.) as well as fundamental aspects of psycho-neuro-endocrinology.
