Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who completes the course successfully will be able to demonstrate knowledge about the main issues related to: continuous improvement processes in health and social care; agreed criteria for the development of performance indicators; systematic approach for maintaining and for improving the quality of patient care in the context of a health system; fundaments of mechanics applied to statics and dynamics of the human body. Students are expected to acquire some knowledge about appropriateness in health care delivery, sustainability, accessibility and other elementary concepts of clinical governance. He/She will learn the operating modes underlying the functioning of clinical risk management.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student's ability to explain correctly the main topics presented during the course at the board will be assessed.

Syllabus
The course provides notions about the organizational models of healthcare, information about the right to health, sustainability, accessibility and other elementary concepts of clinical governance. During the course information about compilation of medical records, consent to treatment, privacy, ethics of clinical research, performance indicators, quality standards are provided. Other topics to deal with will be the organization of clinical risk management, possibility of failures and fixes in clinical practice. Moreover, the course recalls the principles of linear an rotational kinematics, dynamics statics and levers, deepening their applications to human body as equilibrium of the joints, tension stress, shear elasticity, mechanics of the muscles and examples of biomechanics.
