Learning outcomes
Knowledge
Students are expected to: - acquire the knowledge of the general aspects and the theoretical basics of the systems for the energy conversion, the fluid machines and the main components of this kind of systems - have the skill to choose the most proper energy conversion system to satisfy the specifical requirements of the end users, for the best employment of the energetical available resources and the reduction of the environmental impact - are able to calculate the energetical performances and the related coefficients of performance of the various energetical, thermal and hydraulic systems.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
- The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. - During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression. - The student's ability to explain correctly the main topics presented during the course at the board will be assessed.

- Basics of the energy conversion systems and fluid machines - Applied thermodynamic for fluid machines - Fundamentals of energy and exergy - Basics of steam power plants - Steam generators - Reciprocating engines fundamentals - Gas turbines power plants - Combined gas-steam turbine power plants and cogeneration systems - Turbodynamic and volumetric compressors, heat pumps - Hydraulic turbines and pumps.
