Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate: a) an adequate knowledge of symptoms and clinical presentation of "medical" diseases b) a basic knowledge about clinical meaning and indication of some common laboratory and instrumental tests (ECG, chest-X-ray, standard clinical chemistry) c) the capability to evaluate and interpret the vital signs d) the capability to assess priorities in the practice of nursing, and to identify critical and potentially critical conditions
Assessment criteria of knowledge
In the oral exam the student must demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material.

Syllabus
- Description of basic manifestations of disease, such as pain, dyspnea, syncope, palpitations, headache, oedema - Performing quick physical examination - Knowledge of basic principles of cardiopulmonary, gastrointestinal, metabolic and renal diseases - Principles of nursing in the above mentioned conditions
Bibliography
Information provided during the lessons face-to-face is considered sufficient. Handbooks of clinical nursing and / or further readings will be indicated during the course.
