Knowledge
Students are expected to acquire:
1) knowledge of principles and mechanisms underlying the functions of animal cells ;
2) knowledge of the physiology of human body apparatuses;
3) understanding of the mechanisms controlling the whole body homeostasis.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology.

Basic cell functions - Cell membrane permeability. Bioelectricity.
Communication systems. Neural control mechanisms. Hormonal control mechanisms.
Coordinated body functions - Internal medium. Physiology of the cardiovascular system.
Respiration. Regulation of the water and electrolyte balance. Digestion and absorption. Homeostatic control mechanisms.
