Learning outcomes
Knowledge
At the end of the course the student will acquire a solid knowledge on physical activity as an important component in both healthy lifestyles to prevent chronic diseases in adults and in children. He will be able to use physical activity as a therapeutical support to cure children and adults with cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and with diseases such as obesity and diabetes mellitus.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
- The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. - During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression. - The student's ability to explain correctly the main topics presented during the course at the board will be assessed. - The student must demonstrate the ability to put into practice the activities illustrated by the teacher during the course.

Syllabus
The course provides notions on the physiology of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems together with their more frequent alterations in adults. In addition, the course will focus on diseases in children that may cause chronic conditions in adulthood, giving notions on their management, by using physical activity, to prevent late complications in adults.
