Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the elements of physiopathology and clinics of pain. HE will be aware of the main techniques of general and regional anesthesia: in particular he will demonstrate a knowledge of the preparation of the surgical patient, the anesthetic process ( induction, the tracheal intubation and ventilation, the maintenance and the awakening from general anesthesia, the awareness). Learning of notions on first aid and on the assistance to the patient with cardiac and pulmonary arrest. Learning notion on anaphylactic shock and treatment. Course contents

Syllabus
1. Pain and its control; concepts of physiopathology of pain. 2. Techniques of regional anesthesia. 3. Sedation techniques . 4. Introduction to general anesthesia. 5. The tracheal intubation. 6. The maintenance of general anesthesia. The awakening. 7. The medical emergencies in the dentist ambulatory; theoretical-practical notions on first aid and Basic Life Support procedures.
