Knowledge
The student who completes the course successfully will be able to
demonstrate a solid knowledge for the historical understanding
and critical assessment of urban and architectural works between
the 15th and the 20th century. Will have knowledge of the
typological characteristics, spatial and stylistic building of
architectural works and most significant urban, framed in the cultural, social and economic, and know the activity of their protagonists. Will
interpret graphically the paradigmatic works project ideas and
know the tools of historical and critical analysis, methods and research techniques, analytical and critical level. Will have the ability to "see and
know how to read architecture".
Assessment criteria of knowledge
- The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology.
- During the tutorials the student must be able to interpret the paradigmatic works graphically
- With the oral presentation of progect-study, to be made to the teacher and the other students, the student must demonstrate the ability to approach a circumscribed research problem, and organise an effective exposition of the results.
- During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and be able to discuss the reading matter thoughtfully and with propriety of expression

Syllabus
This course provides the knowledge necessary to understand the historical and critical assessment of urban and architectural works between the 15th and the 20th century, highlighting their morphological, stylistic and constructive. Provides the tools of historical analysis and critique, examining "moments" significant in the development of architecture and presenting a series of themes and problems centred on the cultural capital, and on some key works. Face, moreover, the methods and techniques of analytical research and critic. In exercises you analyze graphically the paradigmatic works, highlighting their project ideas and peculiar aspects. There are also on-site lectures and guided tours to monuments, aimed at acquiring the ability to "critical reading" of architettonicici artifacts.
