Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge in genus (and in some cases species) identification of the fauna relics in archaeological contexts. The student will have the ability to look at the main methods of a fauna set study. The student will have acquired the tools to approach the overall analysis of a finds complex with a good degree of independence
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to determine the genus of animal bone relicts, to identify and to describe the distinctive elements using the appropriate technical terminology. The student must demonstrate to have acquired knowledges of the most commonly methods used for data processing and how to use them to illustrate the fauna managing by the prehistoric settlement.

Syllabus
The course consists of lectures and practical work on the comparative collections. Skeleton morphology and the distinguishing characteristics of major mammals found in archaeological contexts will be discussed. The practical activity allows the student to recognize the distinctive features of individual bones in relation to the whole skeleton and to the genus. The general outlines of the study methods applied on the faunal relicts are presented.
