Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will have the ability to design a simple machine starting from the definition of the specific requirements by means of the choice of materials, shapes and processes up the final structural assessment and the technical drawings.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on the ability to solve a practical problem by means of designing a machine able to fulfill the requirements. The safety, reliability, durability, economincal and environmental aspects of the desing has to be considered.

Methods:

  • Final oral exam
  • Final essay
  • Oral report
  • Written report

Further information:
At the oral exam the student presents a complete project of a machine developed from the requirements up to the production drawings and a related complete technical report. This activity is performed during the course by a work group of 2-4 students. This part of the examns is weighted 60%. The remaing 40% is related to the oral part which includes the solution of a simple problem of design.
