Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the theory of the modern state and law, with an opening view on the Human rights theme.
The main goal is to provide students theorical and storical interpretative struments to understand the social phenomenon in its various dimensions (legal and political).
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology.

Syllabus
The course will deals with the most importants conceptions of law and state. Role of the religions. Law, justice, state and politics in the hellenistic world.
Politics and law between middle ages and modern age. The advent of costitutional states. Protection and development of human rights.
