Learning outcomes
Knowledge
Knowing the basics of periodontology analyzing the different diagnostic treatment and rehabilitation methods with particular regard to: the protocols of non-surgical therapy, the techniques of professional and home oral hygiene, the different types of instrumentation, motivation of periodontal patients, the interventation for prevention of risk factors associated with periodontal disease and the related lifestyle changes, overall because of the demostrated strong correlation between oral health and general health.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student must demonstrate the ability to apply techniques and strategies for patient's management suffering from periodontal disease

Syllabus
Perform techniques and strategies for patient’s management suffering from periodontal disease, with a gradual approach to the issue of periodontal folder and non-surgical periodontal treatment which includes causal therapy, scaling and root planing and the use of new technologies. Make follow-up in the periodontal patient. Application of the principles of secondary and tertiary preventive dentistry interventions in order to implement individual motivation and education and create health education programs for periodontal patient.Promote prevention of risk factors associated with periodontal disease itself, with particular reference to changes in lifestyle of the population at risk.
