Knowledge
The student who successfully completes the course will have a good knowledge of power quality and system reliability.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material and to assess his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology.

-concepts of power quality (voltage quality and quality of supply)
-reference electric schemes of power stations and substations (step-up, UHV/UV, UV/MV, MV/LV)
-basics of switchgears and relevant technonolies
-electric network protections
-power quality concepts: dips, sags, harmonics
-reliability and security concepts and main reference indexes: MTTR, MTTF, MTBF
-main risk indexes definition (LOLP, EENS) and their calculation
-Monte Carlo techniques
-cost-benefit risk analysis for an electric power system
