Knowledge
The students who successfully complete the course are expected to acquire:
mastery of the basic techniques of the Calculus in several variables (partial derivatives, integrals, vector fields;
a basic knowledge of finite group theory (groups of symmetry of a "molecule", basic of the theory of the matrix representations of a group);
some ability to use the theory in applications (physical applications).
Assessment criteria of knowledge
In the written exam (3 hours) as well as in the periodic written tests, the student must solve in an appropriate way the most number of the given exercises;
during the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her understanding of the course topics.
Methods:
- Final oral exam
- Final written exam
- Periodic written tests
