Learning outcomes
Knowledge
Students are expected to acquire: 1) the capability of recognizing archaeological sites as the results of different cultures (and different ages); 2) the knowledge of the principles of archaeological stratigraphy and information of human-environment relationships (and of their evolution over time); 3) the knowledge of the main techniques applied for geoarchaeological investigation, with particular attention to geophysical methods. Finally, the student will conduct practical activity in key Archeological sites. GPR survey will be conducted in a selected case study.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
During the oral exam the student must be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course material. The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology.

Methods:

  • Final oral exam
  • Written report

Further information:
Field activity will be discussed during final oral examination.

Work placement
The course provides practical activity conducted in the field in key Archeological sites and 5 day trips for describing the geoarcheological and geomorphological context of selected case studies. GPR survey will be conducted in a selected case study (to be presented and discussed during the oral examination)
