Syllabus
Forms of energy, transformation, transport, storage, control. Role of electrical systems in the context of energy systems. The electric vector for energy. Typical structure and genesis of large electrical systems for energy. Summary of the main functions within an electrical system. Furthermore the course provides notions on the main electrical machines, on their principle of operation and on their main electrical and meccanical characteristics and approaches the problems of speed regulation of the rotating machines and the main circuits of power electronics which allow this regulation. A part of the course will be dedicated to the other main uses of electrical energy. Particular attention will be paid to the problem of the efficiency of these devices.
Bibliography
Recommended reading includes the following works: Electrical power and controls/Timothy L. Skvarenina, Wiliam E. De Witt ISBN 0-13-080182-8 further bibliography will be indicated.
