Knowledge
The student will be aware of the aims, methods and tools of epidemiology and will be able to describe the epidemiology of communicable and non communicable diseases as well as the main preventive interventions. He will also be able to describe the aims and models of healthcare systems and to demostrate to possess an in deep knowledge of the Italian National Healthcare System. He will be able to describe the role of environmental, social and behavioral factors on human well being and disease and the relavance of quality and safety for healthcare organizations.

General epidemiology; elements of demography; primary, secondary and tertiary preventive interventions of communicable and non comunicable diseases.
Aims and models of health care systems; environmental, social and behavioral factors influencing health and disease; organization of the national healthcare system; quality and safety in healthcare; hospital hygiene; the chronic care model.
