Knowledge
The aim of this course is to provide students with some basic mathematical tools, with focus on Linear Algebra, to make them comfortable with formal mathematical language, and to improve their capacity of analyzing and solving problems which arise from Physics, Chemistry and Engineering using mathematical methods.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The written exam aims at testing the student's ability of solving problems and exercises, similar to those presented throughout the course. During the oral exam the student's capacity of expressing himself using the appropriate terminology and explaining clearly some of the topics of the course will be evaluated.

Syllabus
The material we present in this course covers some of the central topics in Linear Algebra, such as vector spaces, linear maps, matrices, determinants and matrix eigenvalues computations; particular emphasys will be placed on linear systems and properties of their solutions.
