Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who completes the course successfully will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of structure, organization and function of cell and living organisms with particular regards to prokariotes and eukariotes. The student will acquire knowledge of the mechanisms of cell proliferation and differentiation as well as biogenesis, structure and function of cell organelles. He or she will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the basic mechanisms of DNA replication and flow and regulation of gene expression. Lastly , the student will be aware of the possibility of application of the basic and modern technologies for the study of problems of cell and molecular biology.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on his/her demonstrated ability to discuss the main course contents using the appropriate terminology. In the written exam (2-3 hours, 8-12 open questions), the student must demonstrate his/her knowledge of the course topics and to organise an effective and correctly written reply using appropriate scientific language.
