Learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student who successfully completes this course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the foundation principles of architecture, architectural composition and the production of preliminary designs, final designs and working plans in a complex urban planning context. They will be aware of design issues regarding sites and the social, cultural and geographical contexts which affect the architectural process. They will be able to apply their critical awareness through contemporary architectural examples and models.
Assessment criteria of knowledge
The student will be assessed on: Design skills. Development of critical faculties regarding architecture in general. Presentation of their own design project.

Architectural design. Planning. Locations and social contexts. Internal and external restrictions to project design. Vitruvian elements. Design vs. composition. Presentation of the design project. The contemporary in architecture. The identity of Italian architecture and European architectural experiences and models.
