Students are expected to acquire a good knowledge of the basic concepts, models and theories as tools of explanation/prediction of the physical and chemical properties and behaviours of bodies and systems having an increasing degree of complexity: atoms and monoatomic ions, molecules and polyatomic ions, pure substances, non-reactive homogeneous and etherogeneous systems, reactive systems.
Saranno svolte delle esercitazioni in aula.
Saranno valutati i risultati ottenuti nelle singole esperienze di laboratorio.
Tests will be carried out in the classroom and the results obtained in the lab experiments will be assessed.
At the end of the course students should be able to calculate the variations of some extensive variables (volumes, masses, moles, equivalents, enthalpy, entropy, Gibbs free energy) and intensive variables (pressure, concentrations, pH, oxidation states) accompanying physical or chemical tranformations of simple systems.
Tests both numerical and non numerical, carried out in the classroom interactively, will concern applications of the syllabus topics.
In the lab experiments students will apply some fundamental concepts acquired in the course of the lectures.
Students will develop their attitude to the experimental work and at the same time will acquire sensitivity towards the lab safety problems.
Saranno richieste agli studenti brevi relazioni sulle attività svolte.
The degree of accuracy and precision of the experiments carried out by the students in the lab
