Conoscenze

At the end of the the course the student will be able to use a molecular model programme (ACD/CHEMSKETCH) with particular regard to the drawing of molecules structures, reactions, graphics and text. Moreover the student will demonstrate a solid knowledge of the main research programme such as Scopus, Chemspider and Scinfinder. In particular he or she will acquire the ability to execute a research by different metodologies (resarch topic, chemical structure and reactions) and will be able to build and organize the synthetic path of a complex molecule using Sciplanner.

Chimica Organica 1

Prerequisites

Basic organic chemistry

Co-requisites

Teaching methods

The corse will be held in the computer room where both the students and the taecher will use their PC for the drowing of moleculare structures and bibliographic reasearch.

Slides of the course will be available at the page:

Syllabus

The first part of the course will deal with the ACD/ChemSketch, a free molecular model programme aimed to help chemists to quickly and easily draw molecular structures, reactions, schematic diagrams, calculate chemical properties, design professional reports and presentations. The second part of the course will be dedicated to bibliographic research, by means of the most common electronic programmes for search and retrieval of chemical information i.e. Scopus, Chemspider and Scifinder. Particular attention will be paid to the the different approaches of bibliografic investigation (by subject, structure and reaction) and to the graphic organization of a synthetic sequence

Non-attending students info

none

Modalità d'esame

The exam will consist in the preparation of a report regarding the synthetic approach to a given polyfunctionalised molecule. She or he will have to use Scifinder to execute a retrosynthetic research and then describe in the report the scheme of the synthesis found in the literature analyzing the reaction mechanism for each synthetic step.

Assessment methods

Individual Final written exam
