The course is aimed at developing the practical ability of the students. The course gives an experience on different kind of geophysical techniques.
At the end of the course, the student will be able to know the most important methods employed in geophysical exploration and will be able to solve also advanced geophysical issues. The skill set learnt allows the student to enter into the world of work in a very competitive fashion.

The skill set learnt allows the student to enter into the world of work in a very competitive fashion.
The course is scheduled in the second semester of the first year. It is recommended that the students have attended the courses of the first semester of the first year.
Delivery: face to face
Attendance: Mandatory
Learning activities:
Teaching methods:
The course is organized in two parts: Laboratory and Field Campaign.
Laboratory:
Description of the seg-y file format. Introduction to the software ProMax®.
Starting from raw seismic reflection data, a standard processing sequence is applied in order to generate a seismic stack section. The processing sequence includes: Spectral Analysis, Trace Editing, CMP Gathering, Velocity Analysis, Geometrical Spreading Correction, Deconvolution, Normal Move Out Correction, Stack, Time Variant Filtering, F-K Filtering, Migration.
Case Histories regarding special topics are discussed: Long-Period Multiple Attenuation, Static Correction, Ground Roll Attenuation, 3D data.
Fied Campaign:
During the five days field activities, are applied different geophysical methodologies in a archaeological site. In particular are acquired and processed data inherent the following geophysical methods: Seismic, Radar, Gravimetry, Magnetometry and Electrical Resistivity.
