Basic mathematical knowledge about Euclidean geometry, analytical geometry and trigonometry. Knowledge of the general concept of mathematical function, derivative and integral.
The learning process is organized in a logical sequence with an intermediate evaluation of the learning achievements.
Basic concepts are approached with practical examples during classroom exercises. On-line optional home-based material is also provided
It is strongly suggested to follow the face to face lessons of the course and the scheduled exercises.
The course provides a systematic introduction to the principles of classical physics. The topics covered are:
Particular relevance is given to the numerical description of physical phenomena and their representation by mathematical models. The possibilities and limits of the description of the evolution of some simple physical systems are discussed through ordinary differential equations. The needed mathematical theory, not known by mathematical analysis, will be approached in the form directly usable for the discussion of the systems studied. Numerical simulations are used to study complex systems. In detail:

Scritto e orale.
Written and spoken oral exams.
The oral exam can be accessed if the script is passed with a score higher or equal to 18/30.
The written exam is exempted for student who pass the periodical tests with a average score higher or equal to 18/30. The on-the-go periodic tests/quizzes will be two with the possibility of improve the score one of the two tests at the end of the course. Each test consists of a solution of 10 questions, with provided multiple answers.
Periodic tests are considered valid for admission to the oral session of the summer session only (June-September).
Written Exam: Solution with extensive discussion of physical problems similar to those approached during the course. Each written test consists of 2 problems, the first concerning the mechanics, and the second based on electricity and magnetism. Each problem needs the solution 5 questions, equally valued in the construction of the final score.
The validity of the written exam is extended within each session. Written tests are valid until the oral exam is done. A new written test must be passed for admission to a new oral in case of failed oral test.
The oral test consists of a discussion with the commission, two teachers, and deals with questions related to the topics approached in the course and their simple applications, such as the guided solution of problems similar to those of the written tests.
