Al termine del corso lo studente avrà acquisito le conoscenze giuridiche relative alla struttura ed al funzionamento dell'Unione europea ed in particolare agli aspetti istituzionali dell'Unione stessa, con un'attenzione specifica alle fonti del diritto Ue e ai loro effetti sul diritto interno degli Stati membri, alle competenze della Corte di Giustizia dell'Ue, al Principio di Solidarietà, nonché all'azione esterna dell'Ue.
Students who successfully complete the course will be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the structure and the functioning of European Union, and particularly of institutional elements of the Union. Students will also have acquired specific knowledge about the sources of EU Law and their effects upon domestic law of Member States, about the Principle of Solidarity, the EU Politics, and about the main elements of EU external action. Students will be also able to demonstrate a keen knowledge of EU solidarity in case of terrorism.
L'accertamento delle conoscenze avverrà essenzialmente attraverso la prova orale finale.
Sara' comunque possibile realizzare verifiche in itinere, anche attraverso quesiti posti durante il corso delle lezioni e mediante laboratori didattici.
Academic progress will be essentially verified during the final oral exam session.
Over the course of the lessons could be also done ongoing assessments through question&answer sessions and/or workshops.
Al termine del corso lo studente sarà in grado di svolgere una ricerca e un'analisi delle fonti di diritto dell'Unione europea e di affrontare casi giuridici pertinenti tale organizzazione regionale.
By the end of the course students will be able to research and analyse the sources of EU Law and they will be proficient in facing EU law cases.
Durante la prova orale finale e le verifiche in itinere verranno accertate le capacità del discente di orientarsi tra le fonti del diritto dell'Ue e di fronteggiare casi giuridici inerenti tale diritto.
Students skills of working with the sources of EU Law and their proficiency in facing EU law cases will be verified during the final oral exam session and the ongoing assessments.
Lo studente potrà acquisire tanto una sensibilità critica alle principali tematiche di diritto dell'Ue, quanto una particolare sicurezza nell'orientarsi all'interno del quadro istituzionale dell'Unione.
Students would develop a critical awareness of the main EU Law issues, and they could also become very confident with the EU Institutions.
Durante la prova orale finale e le verifiche in itinere verranno accertati i comportamenti suddetti, anche mediante laboratori didattici di gruppo.
Above behaviors will be evaluated during the final oral exam session and the ongoing assessments, including group workshops.
Potrebbero risultare utili allo studente alcune conoscenze di base del processo di integrazione europea.
Students should already have some basic knowledge of the history of the European integration.
Il corso coprirà gli aspetti giuridici essenziali della struttura e del funzionamento dell'Unione europea. A tal riguardo, meriteranno una particolare attenzione la storia del diritto dell'Ue, le fonti del diritto dell'Ue e il rapporto tra il diritto dell'Ue e i diritti statali, la composizione e le funzioni delle istituzioni dell'Unione, le caratteristiche essenziali delle politiche dell'Unione, le competenze della Corte di Giustizia dell'Ue, l'azione esterna dell'Ue. Infine, una parte del corso verrà specificatamente dedicata al Principio di Solidarietà nel diritto dell'Ue.
The course will show the main law elements of the structure and the functioning of European Union.
Particularly, the following topics will be covered: the history of EU; the sources of EU Law and the relationship between EU Law and domestic law; the composition and the functions of the main EU Institutions; the essential elements of EU Policies; the Court of Justice of the EU rulings; EU legal acts; the external action of EU.
[Jean Monnet Module] A part of the course will specifically cover the Principle of Solidarity in EU Law, specially when applied to terrorism. The course will also show the following topics: the legal framework of management of terrorist attacks; the problematic legal definition of words like "terrorism", "terrorist", and "terrorist attack"; the judicial cooperation system build by UE Member States to face terrorist attacks; the legal differences between terrorist attacks and natural or man-made disasters.

The knowledge of the treaties and legal acts to which the course refer is required. These materials might be found on any EU legal materials handbook or on web (for example, on EUR-LEX website).
La prova finale orale consiste in un colloquio tra il candidato ed i membri della Commissione esaminatrice. La prova orale non è superata se il candidato mostra di non aver compreso le nozioni fondamentali della materia e/o di non essere in grado di rispondere in modo chiaro e con terminologia appropriata ai quesiti che gli vengono posti.
The final oral exam is an interview between the student and the lecturer. During the final exam the student shall demonstrate his/her knowledge of the most important topics taught during the course and express them in the correct way. The ongoing assessments could be done through question&answer sessions and/or workshops.
