Conoscenze

Knowledge

The course includes theoretical knowledge of syntax and contrastive linguistics (German-Italian), useful for acquiring metalinguistic competence and the ability to identify the microstructures of the text as vectors of subtle meaning in written texts of any level of complexity.

The four instrumental competences (written and oral comprehension and production) of level B1 + of the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages (= CEFR) are considered prerequisites and / or objectives of the course.

Modalità di verifica delle conoscenze

Esame scritto e prova orale.

Durante il semestre saranno proposte prove modulari scritte in itinere, sostitutive dell’esame scritto (modalità “frequentante”).

Assessment criteria of knowledge

Written exam and oral exam.

During the semester, modular written tests in itinere will be proposed, replacing the written exam ("attending" mode).

Skills

The reflection on linguistic structures and their functioning will guarantee the refinement of linguistic, critical and hermeneutic skills

Assessment criteria of skills

Skills will be verified through text analysis and discussion of the detected phenomena

Comportamenti

Behaviors

Students will be able to orient themselves in the reading and interpretation of German texts and communicative phenomena

Assessment criteria of behaviors

Behaviors will be verified through text analysis and discussion of the detected phenomena.

Prerequisiti (conoscenze iniziali)

Sabine Sepandj sabine.sepandj@unipi.it@

(inizio corso: 28/9)

2° anno ex principianti del 1° anno: corso 2B dr. Ingrid Linhart

Prerequisites

Access to the exam requires certified skills equal to at least level B1 + CEFR to be obtained by attending the readership. The lettorato provides independent tests and takes place over the two semesters.

For detailed information, contact the lecturers (University Language Center):

Dr. Ingrid Linhart (linhart@cli.unipi.it); Dr. Sabine Sepandj (sabine.sepandj@unipi.it)

Anyone who is already in possession of external certification, should in any case contact the readers for an assessment of the level's adequacy.

Indicazioni metodologiche

Teaching methods

The course conveys notions of syntax and morphology in a contrastive and cognitive perspective useful to deepen the knowledge of the functioning of the German language system. The notions are always applied to the analysis of the written text, in a comparative perspective regarding the usage of spoken German.

The object of the analysis are authentic texts of various kinds and levels of complexity, with particular attention to the reading and writing interests of students of humanities.

The main vehicular language is Italian. The German language will be used to paraphrase some fundamental concepts, in order to introduce the specialized vocabulary in the target language.

Non-attending students info

Non-attending students are required to take language proficiency tests at level B1+.

For the preparation for the written and oral exam see the indicated bilbiography.

Assessment methods

The exam includes a written test and an oral interview.

The written tests offer theoretical notions and exercises of application to textual analysis.

Those who have taken the ongoing tests with a positive evaluation can only attend the oral interview, after passing the lectorate tests, on an official appeal date.

Non-attending students (or those who have not reported positive results in the ongoing tests) will take a preparatory written test for access to the oral interview, in one of the sessions provided for in the academic calendar.

The oral exam consists in the discussion of the written exam. The exam might also aim to verify the achievement of language competences.

The analytical calendar of the oral interviews will be communicated by email at the end of the correction of the written tests, except in exceptional cases on the day of the written test, and set for an immediately following date (1-2 days after the date of the written test).

Online registration for the exam is mandatory, as well as a document certifying the achievement of level B1 + of linguistic competence.
