Il corso offre un'introduzione all'opera di Gotthold Ephraim Lessing e Friedrich Schiller.
Gli studenti che lo completeranno con successo acquisiranno conoscenze sui temi e motivi più importanti dell'opera dei due classici tedeschi, oltre che sulle caratteristiche salienti della loro epoca.
This course introduces students to the work of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing and Friedrich Schiller.
The student who completes it successfully will know the most important features and themes of the work of two classic German authors, as well as the most important features and characteristics of their age.

Più in generale, il corso ha l'obiettivo di migliorare le capacità dello studente nell'analisi poetica e riguardante testi drammaturgici. Ci si focalizzerà sull'analisi tematica, stilistica e sulla disamina particolare delle figure in scena. Si analizzeranno testi scritti in un tedesco letterario.
More generally, the course aims at improving the students' skills in the analysis of poetry and dramatic literature by focusing on thematic analysis, stylistic devices and figures-analysis of in each text, as well as in reading and understanding texts written in a sophisticated German language.

Dopo il corso, gli studenti dovrebbero essere in grado di condurre una discussione critica sui testi in programma in modo appropriato. Si suppone che abbiano acquisito una conoscenza precisa della materia illustrata a lezione.
After this course, students should be able to conduct a critical discussion of the texts in a proper way. They are expected to have a thorough knowledge of the subject being taught.

Durante le lezioni ogni singolo testo sarà letto in tedesco e tradotto dal docente. Per questa ragione si presuppone familiarità con la lingua tedesca. Gli studenti potranno fare uso di traduzioni.
During the lessons every single text will be read in German and translated by the lecturer. For this reason, familiarity with German language is presumed. The students can make use of translations.
Gioco e religione. Il teatro di Lessing e Schiller.
Il corso sarà incentrato su alcuni dei testi maggiori di due tra gli autori più significativi tra il Settecento e l'Ottocento tedesco: Gotthold Ephraim Lessing e Friedrich Schiller. I testi saranno analizzati nel loro contesto storico e interpretati alla luce dei nuovi studi germanistici. Sarà dedicata particolare attenzione agli aspetti poetologici, antropologici e morali della poetica teatrale degli autori trattati, segnatamente alle questioni riguardanti il ruolo del gioco e della religione nei loro drammi e nel loro pensiero.
Play and religion. Lessing´s and Schiller´s theater
In this course, the focus will be on some of the major works of two of the most significant authors of German eighteenth- and nineteenth-century literature: Gotthold Ephraim Lessing and Friedrich Schiller. The texts will be analyzed in their historical context and interpreted in the light of the new German studies. Particular attention will be paid to the anthropological, poetological and moral aspects of Schiller´s and Lessing's theatrical poetics, in particular to issues concerning the role of play and religion in their dramas and in their thought.
