The course aims to provide basic information on the development of visual arts in the Middle Ages.

Il corso mira a dotare lo studente degli strumenti utili a collocare nello spazio e nel tempo opere e autori dell'arte medievale.

The course aims to equip the student with the necessary tools to recognize the local and chronological origin of works and authors of medieval art.

La verifica avverrà nel corso dell'esame finale.

Prerequisiti (conoscenze iniziali)

Non sono  previste propedeuticità obbligatorie, ma si consiglia vivamente di affrontare, prima di questo corso, i corsi di Metodologia della Ricerca Storico-artistica e di Storia Medievale.

Prerequisites

There is no mandatory propedeuticity, but it is strongly recommended that, before this course, the courses of Methodology of Historical-Artistic Research and Medieval History be addressed.

Indicazioni metodologiche

Lezioni frontali, con ausilio di slide e visite guidate ai luoghi d'arte della città.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons with slides, and guided tours to the art places of the city.

Programma (contenuti dell'insegnamento)

Il corso presenta lo sviluppo dell'arte medievale, con particolare riguardo per gli aspetti iconografici, tecnici e stilistici.

Syllabus

The course presents the development of medieval art, with particular emphasis on iconographic, technical and stylistic aspects.

Al manuale già segnalato va aggiunto: J. von Schlosser, L'arte del Medioevo, Einaudi, Torino 1961 o successive edizioni. Si precisa che i non frequentanti verranno esaminati sulle immagini del manuale, e non su quelle mostrate dal docente a lezione. 

Non-attending students info

Non attending-students will be examinated on the images of the reference text and of this book (they do not have to study the pictures that have been shown during the lessons). 

Modalità d'esame

Esame orale. La verifica, per i frequentanti, avverrà attraverso le immagini mostrate nel corso, e messe a disposizione dello studente sulla piattaforma Moodle. Per i non frequentanti, verranno invece richieste le immagini del manuale.

Assessment methods

Oral exam. For the verification, the images that have been used in the course will be provided to the student using Moodle. Non-attending students must prepare the exam on the pictures of the reference-text-

Il corso avrà luogo nel primo semestre dell'anno accademico 2017-2018.

Le lezioni avranno luogo il giovedì dalle 14:15 alle 15:45, aula CAR LIVA a Palazzo Carità, e il venerdì dalle ore 8:30 alle 10:00, Polo Guidotti aula A2.

Prima lezione: giovedì 21 settembre.
