− Evaluate technologies such as Electronic Medial Records (EMRs), enterprise resource planning (ERP), or enterprise collaboration systems, which can facilitate a healthcare business processes
− Assess the organizational and behavioral factors that can affect system acceptance and the use and strategies for managing change in healthcare organizations
− Distinguish among privacy, confidentiality, and security as they relate to HIS
− Analyze legal compliance requirements that organizations must comply with while implementing and supporting HIS (i.e. regulations and standards).

− Discuss key health IT tools and strategies for population health management including EHRs, registries, risk stratification, patient engagement, and outreach, care coordination and management, analytics, health information exchange, and telemedicine, tele-health, ‘MD on Demand’
− Discuss basic uses of healthcare data, for example, big and small data and analytics, utility to monitor, predict, and improve performance
− Describe the use and adoption of personal health records and patient portals
− Discuss current issues pertaining to the use of health information systems (HIS) including interoperability, usability, and health IT safety

Course Overview
The course provides the skills needed to understand the peculiarities related to the management of health care organizations. This course analyzes the evolution of the structure and the current issues in the health care systems and Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR). It examines, in managerial point of view, the unique features of health care as a product, and the changing relationships between patients, physicians, hospitals, employers, and government from the perspective of healthcare information technology.
