Lo studente acquisirà un ampio ventaglio di conoscenze utili alla presentazione di una relazione o seminario a partire dall'uso dei database di immagini, ai database bibliografici, ai criteri di citazione bibliografica secondo il Chicago Manual of Style.
Students will acquire a wide variety of skills useful when submitting an essay or presenting a seminar and ranging from the use of image dabases to bibliographical ones, to citation systems according to the Chicago Manual of Style.
La verifica delle conoscenze avverrà attraverso l'elaborazione di un breve saggio.
The course will be assessed by means of a medium-length essay.
Alla fine del corso lo studente sarà in grado di utilizzare una varietà di database professionalmente rilevanti e di produrre un saggio logicamente strutturato e puntualmente argomentato.
By the end of the course the student will be capable of perusing a variety of professionally relevant databases and present a properly argued and logically structured essay.
Lo studente dovrà preparare una relazione scritta, dimostrando di aver compreso le istruzioni ricevute durante il corso.
The student will produce a written essays showing thate he has understood and absorbed the instruction received during the course.

The student will learn to peruse a variety of digital tools conceived for professional art historians and available on the web.

Il corso è a base seminariale e in ciascuna lezione il docente presenterà problemi e strumenti che gli studenti approfondiranno autonomamente.

Produzione di un elaborato di non più di cinque pagine che discuta uno di quattro gruppi di immagini proposti. Questi raggruppamenti di immagini saranno proposti senza un titolo; gli studenti dovranno trovare degli elementi connettivi che possono essere formali o concettuali. Diversi occhi e menti potranno trovare diversi significati.
Le immagini non saranno identificate ma solo etichettate con dei numeri in maniera del tutto arbitraria, senza nemmeno seguire un criterio banalmente cronologico. Sarà quindi necessario in primis identificare ciascuna immagine e poi, dopo essersi informati sugli autori, costruire un discorso che le connetta e che faccia emergere quello che è, ad avviso di ciascuno, il concetto chiave che esse esprimono. Il breve saggio dovrà contenere i riferimenti bibliografici in maniera corretta, dimostrando la perfetta comprensione dei principi del Chicago Manual of Style.
Students will submit a five pages long essay (maximum) which will discuss one out of four groups of images circulated by the tutor. These groups of images will not be labelled, and students will have to find connecting elemnts which might be either formal or conceptual. Different eyes and minds will no doubt highlight different connections.
Images will not be labelled but only numbered in totally arbitrary fashion, withour even following a chronological order. First of all it will therefore be necessary to identify each image and then, after having gathered information on the artists, it will be possible to construct a narrative connecting the images together and bringing to the fore the concepts they express. This short essay should include correctly formed bibliographical references that will show understanding of the rules contained in the Chicago Manual of Style.
