Programma (contenuti dell'insegnamento)

Syllabus

What reality, what wonder: the fantastic and magical realist Hispanic-American fiction

The course focuses on mid-twentieth century fiction that can be framed in magical-realist aesthetics, through the analysis of the works of some of its most important writers. We will try to illustrate the narrative technics of magical realism and fantastic fiction, without neglecting the European origin of the concept of merveilleux, and deepening the theoretical issues on which the critical debate focused on from the Seventies up to our days.
