Al termine del corso lo studente avrà acquisito una conoscenza approfondita della struttura delle categorie linguistiche, della loro variazione in sincronia e della loro evoluzione in diacronia, con particolare riferimento ai tratti rilevanti ai fini dell’interfaccia semantico-sintattica.
In parallelo, lo studente avrà sviluppato consapevolezza delle caratteristiche della scrittura quale apparato simbolico culturalmente specifico e autonomo rispetto alla lingua.
By the end of the course, students will have acquired an in-depth knowledge of the structure of linguistic categories, their variation in synchrony and their evolution in diachrony, with particular reference to those fetures that are relevant to the semantic-syntactic interface.
In parallel, students will have developed awareness of the characteristics of writing as a symbolic system which is culturally specific and autonomous with respect to language.

Verification of knowledge will be the subject of assessment in the final examination (see below for details).
Acquisizione di capacità critiche e analitiche, nonché di competenze teoriche e metodologiche specifiche della disciplina linguistica.
Acquisition of critical and analytical skills as well as theoretical and methodological competences that are specific to the linguistic studies.
In sede seminariale lo studente dovrà dimostrare di saper esporre una sintesi ragionata dell’argomento che avrà scelto di approfondire.
In sede di esame lo studente dovrà produrre una relazione scritta sul tema del seminario e dimostrare, durante il colloquio orale, di aver elaborato una coerente visione d’insieme dei temi e dei problemi affrontati nel corso delle lezioni.
In the seminar, students must demonstrate the ability to present a reasoned summary of the topic they have chosen to study in depth.
In the examination, students must produce a written report on the seminar topic and demonstrate, during the oral interview, that they have developed a coherent overview of the themes and problems addressed during the lectures.

Consegna della relazione scritta al docente almeno 20 giorni prima dell’appello d’esame.
Participation in critical discussion.
Oral presentation of the topic of the paper in the form of a seminar [excluding students of 'Italianistica' (WTA-LM; 6 CFU) and 'Informatica Umanistica' (WFU-LM; 6 CFU)].
Delivery of the written paper to the teacher at least 20 days before the examination call.

Si consiglia la frequenza di altri corsi afferenti al settore L-LIN/01 (Glottologia e Linguistica).
Attendance at other courses related to the field 'L-LIN/01 (Glottologia e Linguistica)' is recommended.
Prerequisito consigliato per studi specialistici di livello dottorale di linguistica teorica, storica o applicata.
Recommended prerequisite for doctoral-level specialised studies of theoretical, historical or applied linguistics.
Gli studenti di entrambi i curricula seguiranno ogni settimana per due giorni le lezioni del Prof. Rovai;
un giorno alla settimana:
...gli studenti del curriculum linguistico seguiranno le lezioni della Prof. Marotta;
...gli studenti del curriculum traduttologico seguiranno le lezioni del Prof. Rovai.
Gli studenti dei CdS in Italianistica (WTA-LM; 6 CFU) e Informatica Umanistica (WFU-LM; 6 CFU) seguiranno solo le due lezioni del prof. Rovai comuni a entrambi i curricula.
Le slides utilizzate durante il corso ed eventuali ulteriori materiali di approfondimento potranno essere resi disponibili e scaricabili attraverso la piattaforma di elearning Moodle: (anche) per questo motivo si consiglia VIVAMENTE l'immediata iscrizione alla pagina del corso.
Students in both curricula will attend lectures by Prof. Rovai every week for two days;
one day a week:
...students in the 'Linguistics' curriculum will follow Prof. Marotta's lectures;
...students in the 'Translation' curriculum will follow Prof. Rovai's lectures.
Students in 'Italianistica' (WTA-LM; 6 CFU) and 'Informatica umanistica' (WFU-LM; 6 CFU) will only attend the two lectures by Prof. Rovai common to both curricula.
