Obiettivo finale del laboratorio di inglese è il conseguimento del livello B2 alla fine del percorso complessivo.
Gli obiettivi parziali sono così distribuiti:
1 anno B1.2
2 anno B2.1
3 anno B2.2
4 anno B2 +
5 anno consolidamento
Il livello B2.1 è il primo livello di una conoscenza linguistica intermedio-alta.A questo livello, gli studenti sono indipendenti in un certo numero di contesti accademici e professionali, sebbene con una gamma limitata di precisione e variazione. Il livello è anche chiamato 'confident'.
NB
Due aspetti verranno privilegiati in tutto il percorso formativo
- le routine conversazionali, e in particolare quelle legate alla cornice 'scuola' ("Aprite il libro a pagina...")
- la cura della pronuncia, soprattutto in prospettiva contrastiva con l'italiano.
The final outcome of the English lab is to achieve a B2 level at the end of the 5 year programme.
The partial outcomes for each year are as follows:
1 year B1.2
2 year B2.1
3 year B2.2
4 year B2 +
5 year consolidation
The B2.1 level is the first step of an “upper intermediate” language knowledge. At this level, students can function independently in a variety of academic and professional environments in English, although with a limited range of nuance and precision. The level is also defined as 'confident'.
NB
Two aspects that will be foregrounded in the five-year programme are:
- conversational routines, in particular those that are linked to the frame ‘school’ (e.g., “Open your books at page…”)
- special attention to pronunciation, especially in a contrastive perspective with Italian.
Le conoscenze sono testate attraverso una prova finale consistente in Reading, Use of English and Writing (75%); Listening (25%). Alcune domande sulle lezioni teoriche della prof.ssa Bruti fanno parte dell'esame.
Knowledge is tested every year with a final exam consisting of xReading, Use of English and Writing (75%); Listening (25%). Some questions on the theoretical lessons taught by prof. Bruti are included in the exam.
Lo studente
- Capisce le idee principali di testi complessi su argomenti concreti e astratti, incluse discussioni tecniche nel campo di specializzazione.
- Sa interagire con una certa fluenza e spontaneità che rendono possible un' interazione con parlanti nativi senza particolari sforzi da entrambe le parti.
- Produce testi chiari e dettagliati su un'ampia selezione di argomenti e sa spiegare il punto di vista su un argomento presentandone vantaggi e svantaggi.
The student
- Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
- Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
- Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Tutti gli studenti iscritti a Scienze della Formazione Primaria presso l’Università di Pisa sono tenuti, per poter partecipare ai laboratori di lingua inglese, a sostenere un test iniziale per l’accertamento del livello di appartenenza (placement test). Il placementtest è sostenuto una sola volta al momento dell’immatricolazione (è previsto in due date). La non partecipazione al placementtest comporta la non ammissione alla frequenza dei laboratori di lingua inglese. L’esito del placement test sostenuto all’inizio del primo anno di corso, dopo l’immatricolazione, servirà a distribuire gli studenti nel seguente modo:
- gli studenti il cui livello di competenza linguistica risulta al di sotto del livello A2, dopo aver sostenuto un colloquio successivo al placement test, potranno usufruire dei materiali per l’autoapprendimento presso il Centro linguistico e/o iscriversi ai corsi a pagamento organizzati dal CLI (di vari livelli e in diverse fasce orarie), prima di iniziare le attività previste per il corso di studi;
- gli studenti il cui livello di competenza linguistica risulta B1 inferiore svolgeranno un colloquio dopo il placement test per verificare se sono in grado di seguire il laboratorio del primo anno; eventualmente saranno loro consigliate attività di rinforzo prima dell’inizio delle lezioni. Gli studenti seguiranno il laboratorio del primo anno e sosterranno il test conclusivo del primo anno (B1.2) e tutti i successivi;
- gli studenti il cui livello di competenza linguistica risulta B1 superiore non hanno obbligo di frequenza del laboratorio del primo anno ma sosterranno il test conclusivo (B1.2) e frequenteranno tutti i laboratori degli anni successivi, sostenendo i test conclusivi;
- gli studenti il cui livello di competenza risulta B2 non hanno obbligo di frequenza del laboratorio del primo anno e sono esonerati dal test conclusivo, ma frequenteranno tutti i laboratori degli anni successivi, sostenendo i test conclusivi.
All students enrolled in SFP at the University of Pisa are required, in order to participate in the English language laboratories, to take an initial test to ascertain their level (placement test).
The placement test is taken only once at the time of enrollment (it is scheduled on two dates within the beginning of the second term). Failure to participate in the placement test entails not being able to attend the English language workshops. The result of the placement test taken at the beginning of the first year of the course, after enrollment, will serve to distribute the students in the following way:
- students whose language proficiency level is below A2, after taking an interview after the placement test, will be able to take advantage of self-learning materials at the Language Center and/or enroll in paid courses organized by the CLI (of various levels and in different time slots), before starting the activities foreseen for the course of study;
- students whose level of linguistic competence is lower than B1 will take an interview after the placement test to check if they are able to follow the first year laboratory; reinforcement activities will be recommended to them before the lessons begin. Students will follow the first year laboratory and take the final test of the first year (B1.2) and all subsequent ones;
- students whose level of linguistic competence is higher than B1 have no obligation to attend the laboratory of the first year but will take the final test (B1.2) and will attend all the laboratories of the following years, taking the final tests;
- students whose competence level is B2 have no obligation to attend the first year laboratory and are exempted from the final test, but will attend all the laboratories of the following years, taking the final tests.
FONETICA
Le lezioni inziali della prof.ssa Bruti saranno dedicate ad alcuni aspetti della fonetica dell'inglese in prospettiva contrastiva e alle risorse fonetiche da utilizzare nella didattica.
Il materiale di studio è cura della doecente e sarà messo a disposizione degli studenti.
Grammatica
Consolidamento dei tempi verbali: present simple, present continuous, present perfect simple, past simple and continuous. Used to. Verbi regolari e irregolari. Futuro con will, shall, be going to.
Interrogativi: where, what, when, who, whose, which, how, why
Pronomi: personali, impersonali (it, there), dimostrativi, quantitativi, indefiniti, relativi.

PHONETICS
The initial classes taught by prof. Bruti are devoted to some aspects of phonetics (with a contrastive focus with Italian) and to phonetic resources to be used in English language teaching.
The material is provided by the lecturer.
Grammar
Revision of tenses: present simple, present continuous, present perfect simple, past simple and continuous. Used to. Regular and irregular verbs. Future with con will, shall, be going to.
