Al termine del corso lo studente avrà acquisito un quadro generale della produzione ispano-americana di metà Novecento, ponendo al centro della riflessione la narrativa e le sue caratteristiche tematiche ed espressive.
At the end of the course the student will have acquired a general picture of Hispano-American production of the mid-twentieth century.
La verifica delle conoscenze sarà oggetto della valutazione degli elaborati scritti prodotti durante il corso nonché della prova orale prevista ad ogni sessione d'esame
The verification of the knowledge will be the object of the evaluation of the written assignments produced during the course as well as of the oral examination scheduled for each exam session
Lo studente potrà preparare e presentare una relazione scritta che riporti i risultati delle attività di approfondimento svolte durante il corso

The student must prepare and present a written report that reports on the results of the in-depth activities carried out during the course
Lo studente potrà acquisire competenze in materia di ermeneutica testuale e sviluppare una sensibilità alle politiche culturali dei paesi postcoloniali
The student will be able to get skills in the field of textual hermeneutics and develop a sensitivity to the cultural policies of postcolonials countries

Following the seminar activities students will be asked to provide shortreports on the topics covered
Sarà utile possedere alcuni strumenti di analisi letteraria ed essere in grado di leggere i testi in lingua originale
it will be useful to have some literary analysis tools and to be able to read the texts in the original language
Può essere utili seguire un qualunque altro insegnamento di area iberica
It may be useful to follow any other teaching in the Iberian area
Le lezioni saranno svolte in lingua italiana e con ausilio di slide nel caso in cui la trattazione dell'argomento ne richieda l'utilizzo. Il Novecento ispano-americano: alcune preminenti tendenze estetiche
Il corso verte sulla narrativa di metà Novecento, proponendo l’analisi delle opere di alcuni dei suoi più importanti rappresentanti. Si cercheranno di illustrare le caratteristiche del real-maravilloso americano di Alejo Carpentier, le innovazioni apportate da Juan Rulfo col suo Pedro Páramo, e le peculiarità del fantastico di area rioplatense, selezionando alcuni racconti di Julio Cortázar, e dando ampio spazio al fantastico speculativo di Borges.

Hispanic-American twentieth century Literature: some pre-eminent aesthetic trends
The course focuses on the fiction of the mid-twentieth century, through the analysis of the works of some of its most important representatives. We will try to illustrate the characteristics of the American real-maravilloso of Alejo Carpentier, the innovations made by Juan Rulfo with his Pedro Páramo, and the peculiarities of the fantastic of the Rioplatense area by selecting some stories by Julio Cortázar, and by giving ample space to the speculative fantastic of Borges.
