Al termine del corso:
Lo studente avrà acquisito competenza in fonologia e fonetica, morfologia e sintassi della Lingua Inglese. Il livello di competenza di lingua richiesto è B1+.
Descrittori del Livello B1+ (così come nel QCER): Comprendere i punti chiave di argomenti familiari che riguardano la scuola, il tempo libero, ambito di specializzazione. Muoversi con disinvoltura in situazioni che possono verificarsi mentre si viaggia nel Paese di cui parla la lingua. Produrre un testo semplice (scritto e orale) relativo ad argomenti che siano familiari o di interesse personale. Esprimere esperienze ed avvenimenti, sogni, speranze e ambizioni e di spiegare brevemente le ragioni delle sue opinioni e dei suoi progetti.
Lo studente dovrà inoltre acquisire conoscenze di base di fonetica e fonologia, saper leggere i caratteri IPA (alfabeto fonetico internazionale) usati in inglese, conoscere le principali caratteristiche della morfologia e della sintassi della lingua inglese, e avere una conoscenza di base delle tappe evolutive della lingua inglese, dall’antico inglese all’inglese moderno.
At the end of the course:
The student will have acquired competence in phonology and phonetics, morphology and syntax of the English Language. The required level of language proficiency is B1+.
Descriptors of Level B1+ (as in CEFR): Understand the key points of familiar topics related to school, leisure, field of specialisation. Move with ease in situations that may occur while travelling in the country whose language is spoken. Produce a simple text (written and oral) on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. The student must also acquire basic knowledge of phonetics and phonology, be able to read the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) characters used in English, know the main features of the morphology and syntax of the English language, and have a basic knowledge of the evolutionary stages of the English language, from Old English to Modern English.

Lo studente saprà:
Comprendere i punti chiave di argomenti familiari che riguardano la scuola, il tempo libero, il proprio ambito di specializzazione, come nel QCER per il livello B1+.

The student will be able to:
Understand the key points of familiar topics relating to school, leisure, one's field of specialisation, as in the CEFR for level B1+. Move with ease in situations that may arise while travelling in the country whose language is spoken, as in the CEFR for level B1+.

Saranno svolte almeno due esercitazioni durante la lezione, volte al consolidamento degli argomenti trattati.
L'esame finale consta di tre test scritti: grammatica (domande di comprensione del testo scritto e del testo orale), fonologia/fonetica, e morfologia/sintassi, e un esame orale per accertare il livello della competenza produttiva (sulla pagina moodle del corso saranno pubblicati maggiori dettagli. Nelle prime settimane del corso si terrà un test di grammatica (non obbligatorio ma consigliato) per stabilire il livello di competenza linguistica in Inglese. Lo scopo è quello di consigliare agli studenti un percorso (di recupero o di consolidamento) più adatto alle competenze inizialli.

At least two in-itinere tests will be carried out during the lesson, aimed at consolidating the topics covered.
The final exam consists of three written tests: grammar (questions on comprehension of written and oral text), phonology/phonetics, and morphology/syntax, and an oral exam to ascertain the level of productive competence (more details will be published on the course moodle page. In the first weeks of the course a test (not compulsory, but recommended) will be taken to ascertain the language level possessed at the start. The purpose of the test is to advise each student on the most suitable route to reach or maintain the level required by the course.

Gli studenti dovranno avere già le competenze previste per il livello B1 del Quadro Comune Europeo di Riferimento per le Lingue: - Saper comprendere e usare espressioni di uso quotidiano e frasi basilari tese a soddisfare bisogni di tipo concreto. -Saper presentare sé stessi e gli altri. Comunicare in attività semplici e di abitudine che richiedono un semplice scambio di informazioni su argomenti familiari e comuni e descrivere in termini semplici aspetti della sua vita, dell'ambiente circostante. -Saper esprimere bisogni immediati. -Saper fare domande e rispondere su particolari personali come dove si abita, le persone che si conoscono e le cose che si possiedono. -Saper interagire in modo semplice.

Students should already have the competences required for level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: -Able to understand and use everyday expressions and basic phrases aimed at satisfying needs of a concrete type. -Able to introduce oneself and others. Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple exchange of information on familiar and common topics and describe in simple terms aspects of his/her life and immediate environment. -Know how to express immediate needs. -Able to ask and answer questions about personal details such as where one lives, people one knows and things one owns. -Able to interact in a simple way.

The examination modalities are the same for attending and non-attending students. Non-attenders are also required to study:

2) and to consult the course moodle page, where the slides of the lectures will be uploaded from time to time.
Please note that the slides cannot be published, sold or modified because they are the property of the lecturer and that they cannot be considered as the sole source for preparing for the exam, as they only serve as a reminder and summary of the content covered in the lessons.
Anyone who finds it difficult to understand the topics covered is invited to come to the tutorial hours before taking the exam.

- A) ESAME 1: SCRITTO DI GRAMMATICA
La prova è un test a scelta multipla con esercizi di comprensione del testo orale (listening comprehension) e scritto (reading comprehension), esercizi tesi a verificare la conoscenza di lessico e grammatica (si veda il programma e i requisiti per ottenere il livello B1+ del Quadro Comune di Riferimento Europeo per le lingue).
Verrà accertato il livello di competenza del candidato che, si ricorda, dovrà corrispondere al B1+ del Quadro Comune Europeo per le Lingue. L'esito del test dà indicazione del livello di competenza (che può essere: A1/A2; B1; B1+; B2) e si intende superato se il livello raggiunto è almeno B1+
- B) TEST 2: FONETICA/FONOLOGIA dell'Inglese
Il test consta di domande a scelta multipla di argomenti di fonetica e fonologia della lingua Inglese trattati durante il corso. Il risultato è espresso con un voto in trentesimi. Il voto minimo per superare l'esame è 18/30.
- C) TEST 3: MORFOLOGIA e SINTASSI dell'Inglese
Il test consta di domande a scelta multipla di argomenti trattati durante il corso relative a morfologia e sintassi. Il risultato è espresso con un voto in trentesimi. Il voto minimo per superare l'esame è 18/30.
NOTA: Il superamento di tutti gli scritti è condizione per poter accedere all’esame orale. Lo scritto di grammatica ha validità di un anno, entro il quale devono essere sostenute tutte le prove per la registrazione del voto. Le prove scritte possono essere sostenute tutte nella stessa sessione d'esame o separatamente, a scelta dello studente.
- D) ESAME ORALE
L'esame orale è volto a verificare una competenza orale produttiva di livello B1+.
Il candidato deve preparare un curriculum vitae in inglese, dove annoterà dati biografici, esperienze di studio e lavorative (ad esempio: esperienza durante il periodo di alternanza scuola-lavoro, o altri lavori che può aver svolto in passato). Il curriculum vitae è un pretesto per parlare di sé (in maniera conforme a quanto richiesto dal QCER ) e dà la possibilità allo studente di prepararsi in anticipo lessico, pronuncia corretta e strutture sintattiche necessarie ad affrontare il colloquio.
La valutazione finale, in trentesimi, sarà ottenuta facendo la media aritmetica tra le due prove di fonetica e morfologia. Il test di grammatica e l’orale servono solamente per verificare il livello di competenza B1+.

- A) TEST 1: GRAMMAR
Multiple choice questions on grammar and vocabulary; listening and reading comprehension multiple choice questions, which aim at the assessment of the required competence (B1+level).
- B) TEST 2: PHONETICS/PHONOLOGY
Multiple choice questions on the topics dealt with during the lessons that aim at the assessment of the required basic competence on phonetics and phonology. Results is expressed in thirtieths ___/30 (minimum mark to pass the examination: 18/30)
- C) TEST 3: MORPHOLOGY/SYNTAX
Multiple choice questions on the topics dealt with during the lessons that aim at the assessment of the required basic competence on morphology and syntax. Results is expressed in thirtieths ___/30 (minimum mark to pass the examination: 18/30)
NOTE: Passing all the written papers is a condition for admission to the oral examination. The grammar paper is valid for one year, within which time all the tests must be taken for the grade to be recorded. The written tests may all be taken in the same examination session or separately, at the student's choice.
D: ORAL EXAM
The oral exam aims to assess the spoken competence of the students (B1+ Level).
The students are asked to write a CV in English, where they will report on their lives, personal and past job experience (for example stages or temporary jobs).
The CV is meant to help the students to prepare the necessary vocabulary and syntactic structures to talk about their life and job experience.
The final assessment, graded in thirtieths, will be obtained by making the arithmetic mean between the two tests of phonetics and morphology. The grammar test and the oral only serve to test the B1+ level of competence.

Il corso prevede il supporto di un Collaboratore Esperto Linguistico (dott.ssa LeighAnne Mazzoncini) che terrà esercitazioni di lingua inglese volte alla preparazione del test di grammatica e dell’orale di livello B1+ (30 ore). Se ne consiglia la frequenza soprattutto a coloro che non hanno il livello richiesto.
