È fortemente consigliato avere sostenuto al triennio l’esame di “Storia del collezionismo e del museo”, o almeno quello di “Comunicazione museale” o del Laboratorio didattico MUSEIA, o esami analoghi in altri atenei.
It is strongly recommended to have taken the three-year examination of "History of collecting and museum", or at least that of "Museum Communication" or the Educational Laboratory MUSEIA, or similar examinations in other universities.
L'insegnamento verrà condotto principalmente con modalità seminariale con ausilio di presentazioni power point, fonti testuali e visive, video ecc. e con grande interazione con gli studenti, chiamati a svolgere
1) durante il corso un intervento individuale (5-10 minuti) su fatti di cronaca, dibattito e riflessione, che verrà dibattuto e approfondito in aula;
2) nel seminario finale, una relazione individuale o di gruppo (max 3 persone) su un argomento e di tipologia concordati con il docente (ad es., analisi di un museo secondo Scheda data, relazione su argomento specifico, progetto educativo, prototipo di prodotto di comunicazione ecc.);
3)entro il 1° appello estivo, consegnare una relazione scritta individuale sul tema del seminario finale.
Il corso potrà inoltre comprendere esercitazioni in gruppo, lezioni esterne in musei di Pisa e dintorni, interventi (anche on-line), incontri con conservatori e direttori di musei e con partecipanti a progetti del Laboratorio MUSEIA. Potrà inoltre comprendere collaborazioni con tali musei e progetti.
Su indicazione della docente, eventuali incontri e iniziative attinenti il corso potranno esserne considerati sua parte integrante, soggetta a discussione durante le lezioni.
L'interazione tra studente e docente è assicurato dai ricevimenti in presenza, dalla posta elettronica e dalla piattaforma moodle.
The teaching will be conducted mainly in a seminar and with great interaction with the students, called to
carry out an individual intervention during the course on an element of chronicle, debate or reflection on the museum;
carry out, individually or in groups (max 3 people), a paper on a topic and type agreed with the teacher (eg, analysis of a museum according to data sheet, report on specific topic, educational project, prototype of communication product, etc.) to be presented in the classroom during the final seminar and on which to produce an individual report (by the 1st summer appeal).
The course will also include group exercises, external lessons in museums of Pisa and surroundings, interventions (also online) and meetings with conservatories and directors of museums and with participants in the project "PA.CO.net - Heritage and communities in the network" on the museums of Empoli and other projects of the MUSEIA Laboratory. It may also include active collaborations with such museums and projects.
TITOLO DEL CORSO: Il museo contemporaneo: caratteristiche, istanze, dibattito.
Il corso intende affrontare alcuni nodi problematici del museo e della museologia contemporanei: dai musei delle “archistar” al dibattito sulla “decolonizzazione” dei musei, dagli aspetti economici-manageriali all’influencer marketing, dal welfare culturale alle “comunità di eredità”.
Verranno perciò affrontate le principali linee d’analisi del museo contemporaneo:
- lo spazio reale e concettuale;
- il display come valore semantico;
- la funzione culturale, ideologica, educativa, sociale, economica e politica.
TITLE OF THE COURSE: The contemporary museum: characteristics, instances, debate.
The course aims to address some problematic issues of contemporary museum and museology: from the museums of the "archistars" to the debate on the "decolonization" of museums, from economic-managerial aspects to influencer marketing, from cultural welfare to the "heritage communities".
Group exercises, external lessons in museums in Pisa and surroundings, interventions (also online) and meetings with conservatories and directors of museums and with participants in the project "PA.CO.net - Patrimoni e comunità in rete" on the museums of Empoli and other projects of the MUSEIA Laboratory.
During the lessons, each student will have a speech (5-10 minutes) on news, debate and reflection, which will be debated and deepened in the classroom.
In the last part of the course each student, singular or in group (max 3), will share with the teacher the topic and the typology of their work (e.g., analysis of a museum according to data sheet, report on specific topic, educational project, prototype of communication product, etc.), which will be subject to at least 1 collegiate review.
The course ends with the final seminar in which the students, individually or in a group, will give a report/presentation on their work

EXAMINATION PROGRAMME
It is divided into 4 sections:
1) BIBLIOGRAPHY
Attending 2 books/articles, not attending 3 books/articles from a list that will be indicated during the course.
For those who have not taken the examination of "History of collecting and museum" or similar, one of the books/ articles is mandatory Maria Cecilia Mazzi, Traveling with the Muses. Spaces and models of the Museum, Edifir, Florence, 2005 or later.
In addition to the titles on the list, other books may be individually agreed.
2) COURSE
Only attending: contents of the course, including all the individual interventions during the lessons and all the reports at the final seminar, obviously with particular regard to the "own".
3) WRITTEN REPORT
Attending students: individual development of the relationship at the final Seminar (delivery on paper by the established date, before the beginning of the summer appeal).
Non-attending students: subject to be agreed with the teacher (delivery on paper at least 1 week before the oral exam)
4) VISITS
Attending and not attending: Recent and careful visit of 3 museums of your choice.
Dato che l'insegnamento ha carattere spiccatamente seminariale, è fortemente consigliata la frequenza. Il programma per non frequentanti è da concordare a ricevimento.
Since teaching has a distinctly seminarial character, attendance is strongly recommended. The program for non attending students is to be agreed upon at the reception with the teacher.
