Il corso di lingua inglese prevede il raggiungimento del livello che si colloca al livello C1+/C2 di conoscenza della Lingua. A questo fine, lo studente dovrà, come parte del proprio lavoro individuale, integrare la propria preparazione seguendo il lettorato organizzato dal CLI presso il Dipartimento (ex-Lettorato) per il livello indicato. Il superamento del test di livello del lettorato è condizione per poter registrare il voto finale. L’attestato del CLI può essere sostituito da una certificazione internazionale tra quelle sotto indicate, conseguita non oltre i due anni precedenti.

Il lettorato, di durata ANNUALE, è tenuto dalla Dott. Wendy Doherty. Il corso si concentrerà su tutte le abilità. I non frequentanti sono tenuti a mettersi in contatto con la lettrice per informazioni e per concordare programmi alternativi. Le informazioni circa il lettorato e le relative prove sono disponibili su https://elearning.cli.unipi.it/mod/url/view.php?id=51. I lettori ricevono gli studenti nei locali del CLI siti in Via S. Maria 85 (palazzo Boilleau).
The English language course includes reaching C1+/C2 of the CEF. To this end, students should
integrate their knowledge and skills attending the language classes organized by CLI (ex-lettorato) for the required level.
Passing the final test is a requirement in order to be able to have the overall mark recorded. Otherwise students can produce an international certificate, obtained no sooner than two years.
A list of accepted certificates for C2 level follows:

Language classes last throughout the year. They are taught by Dr Wendy Doherty and will focus on all skills. Non attending (or non regularly attending) students are required to contact Dr Doherty to obtain information and/or to agree on alternative programmes. Le verifiche sulla conoscenza strumentale della lingua (lettorato) prevederanno un test scritto e uno orale. Da settembre 2015 sono stati fissati tre appelli per le prove di lettorato (uno estivo, uno autunnale, uno invernale).
The final tests of language classes include a written and oral test. Since September 2015 three exam sessions are available (one in summer, one in autumn, one in winter).
Lingua strumentale: vedi livello C1/C2 del framework.
Corso: sapere analizzare il contributo dei diversi canali semiotici alla comunicazione in testi multimediali (per es. discorso e intervista politica, pubblicità, serie televisiva).
Language classes: C1/C2 level (of CEF)
Course: be able to analyze the contribution of different semiotic channels to communication in multimedia texts (e.g. political speeches interviews, advertisements, television series).
Lingua strumentale: prove finali scritte e orali relative al lettorato.
Corso: prove in itinere sulla conoscenza della teoria. Presentazione orale per vedere le capacità analitiche acquisite (frequentanti); esame scritto con domande teoriche e analitiche (non frequentanti).
Le prove relative alle esercitazioni non sono propedeutiche rispetto all'esame del docente.
Il punteggio riportato nelle esercitazioni contribuirà al voto finale nel seguente modo (proposta approvata nel Consiglio del Cli del 24 maggio 2017):

Language classes: written and oral tests.
Course: two intermediate tests on theoretical aspects. An oral presentation to evaluate analytical skills (for attenders); a written exam to evaluate theoretical and analytical skills (non attenders).
Students must pass both the final tests for their language classes and the exam of Lingua inglese taught by prof. Bruti. They can choose which one to sit (and pass) first.
The score (out of 100) in the final language tests will contribute to their overall mark in the following way (proposal approved by the Consiglio CLi on May 24 2017):

Conoscenza della struttura del discorso e delle caratteristiche della comunicazione faccia a faccia.
Knowledge of the structure of discourse and the main features of face-to-face communication.
In questo corso si approfondirà lo studio del linguaggio dei media in diversi tipi di testo. Partendo dalle fondamenta dell'analisi semiotica, si analizzerà il contributo di ogni canale della comunicazione alla creazione del significato in relazione al tipo di comunicazione e al destinatario. Ci si concentrerà in particolare sul linguaggio pubblicitario, sull'intervista politica e sulla narrativa televisiva seriale.
This course will focus on the study of the language of the media in different text types. Starting from foundations of semiotic analysis, the contribution of each channel of communication to the creation of meaningit will be analyzed, in relation to the type of communication and the recipient. The main text types to be analyzed will be advertisements, political interviews and TV series.

L'esame consiste in una prova scritta sui contenuti del corso (domande di verifica e analisi di testi). Per gli studenti frequentanti ci saranno modalità di verifica durante lo svolgimento del corso (2 prove in itinere più presentazione orale). Alla votazione finale contribuisce anche il risultato riportato nelle prove relative al lettorato.
The exam consists of a written test on the course contents (questions on theory and text analysis). For attending students there will be intermediate evaluation, i.e. two intermediate tests on theoretical aspects and an oral presentation to evaluate analytical skills (for attenders). For non regular attenders there will be a written exam to evaluate theoretical and analtyical skills. The mark for the final language test will also be taken into account.
