Lo studente potrà acquisire conoscenze critiche avanzate rispetto allo sviluppo della storia del mondo greco, e potrà essere in grado di affrontare un problema storico in modo autonomo. Particolare attenzione verrà accordata a questioni afferenti alla storia economica e sociale e all'epigrafia.
The student will acquire advanced critical knowledge with respect to the development of Greek world history, and will be able to tackle a historical problem independently. Particular attention will be paid to issues related to economic and social history and epigraphy.
La verifica delle conoscenze sarà oggetto di valutazioni periodiche durante le lezioni e attraverso un esame orale finale.
Participants will be asked to present to the class the results of their research on an assigned topich, in addition to the standard final oral exam. They will demonstrate the ability to approach a circumscribed research problem and organize an effective exposition of the results.

The student will be able to independently understand and analyse texts relevant to economic and social history and Greek epigraphy.

The student will acquire a critical knowledge of essential issues in ancient economic and social history and Greek epigraphy.

During the course and the final exam, the students could show their ability to present the aspects of the given topics.

L'insegnamento sarà impartito attraverso lezioni frontali e seminari con ausilio di materiali forniti dal docente.
Teaching will be delivered through lectures and seminars with the aid of materials provided by the lecturer.
Il corso sarà diviso in 2 parti. La prima, che si svolgerà nel primo semestre, sarà tenuta dal prof. F. Battistoni, la seconda, nel secondo semestre, dalla prof.ssa M. Facella.
Il tema della prima parte (rif. Battistoni) è:
Percezione del tempo e della storia in età ellenistica.
Il tema della seconda parte (rif. Facella) è:
"Leggi sacre" in greco dall'Oriente ellenistico
Nota: È possibile sostenere l'esame per il corso da 12 crediti (Storia Greca 2) ovvero sostenere l'esame per una sola parte, da 6 crediti (Storia economica e sociale, 263LL, rif. F. The course will be divided into two parts. The first, to be held in the first semester, will be taught by Prof. F. Battistoni, the second, in the second semester, by Prof. M. Facella.

The subject of the second part of the course (ref. Facella) is:
"Greek Sacred Laws" from the Hellenistic East

Il corso ha carattere seminariale. Chi non potesse frequentare sostituirà il corso:
per la prima parte (rif. Battistoni) con il primo libro delle Antichità romane di Dionigi di Alicarnasso, traduzione e commento, oltre alla lettura di una monografia tra quelle previste per i frequentanti.
per la seconda parte (rif. Facella) con la lettura di M. Guarducci, L' epigrafia greca dalle origini al tardo Impero, Roma 1987 (con lettura traduzione e commento di tutti i testi greci contenuti alle pagine 111-167 e 244-254).
The course has a seminar character. Those who cannot attend will substitute:
-for the first part (ref. Battistoni) with the first book of the Roman Antiquities of Dionysius of Halicarnassus, translation and commentary, in addition to the reading of a monograph from among those planned for the attending students
-for the second part (ref. Facella), the students who cannot attend are requested to study the book M. Guarducci, L' epigrafia greca dalle origini al tardo Impero, Roma 1987 (with reading, translation and commentary of all the texts examined at pp. 111-167 and 244-254).
In case of foreign and Erasmus students who are not yet skilled in Italian language, please contact prof. Facella to have alternative texts.
L'insegnamento prevede una prova finale orale con voto espresso in trentesimi (cfr. il campo "NOTE" per la possibilità di suddividere il corso).
Per la prima parte (rif. Battistoni) il programma di esame verrà stabilito con il docente e consisterà nella conoscenza di quanto svolto a lezione (testi antichi e saggi) e un volume a scelta tra Stern, Clarke, Feeney (cfr. bibliografia) ovvero una selezione di articoli da concordare.
Per la seconda parte (rif. Facella) il programma di esame consisterà:
1) testi esaminati durante il corso (a lezione e nei seminari)
2) presentazione orale alla classe di un testo epigrafico inerente al tema del corso, documento concordato col docente
3) due articoli tratti dalla bibliografia su citata o da concordare col docente
Qualora chi frequentasse il corso, non avesse già seguito o sostenuto l'esame di Epigrafia A, sostituirà il punto 3 con la lettura di M. Guarducci, L' epigrafia greca dalle origini al tardo Impero, Roma 1987, pp. 111-167.
The course includes a final oral examination with a grade expressed in thirtieths.
For the first part (ref. Battistoni) the examination syllabus will be agreed with the lecturer and will consist of the knowledge of the lectures (ancient texts and essays) and a volume of your choice from Stern, Clarke, Feeney (see bibliography) or a selection of articles to be agreed upon.
For the second part (ref. Facella), the student is requested:
1) to study all the material examined furing lectures and seminars.
2) to give an oral presentation to the classroom of an epigraphic document agreed upon with the lecturer.
3) to study two articles from the list above (see Bibliography) or agreed upon with the lecturer.
Students who have not attendended the course of Epigraphy A will substitute no. 3 with the study of:
M. Guarducci, L' epigrafia greca dalle origini al tardo Impero, Roma 1987, pp. 111-167.
