Il corso ha lo scopo di introdurre gli studenti all'uso dell'analisi statistica per valutare le performance aziendali. Gli argomenti trattati permetteranno allo studente di impostare e svolgere correttamente un'analisi statistica e di comunicarne efficacemente i risultati. Lo studente imparerà a tradure un quesito aziendale in quesito statistico, a padroneggiare i metodi statistici proposti grazie alla conoscenza dei relativi fondamenti teorici. Lo studente inoltre svilupperà autonomia nell'intercettare ed analizzare le statistiche sulle aziende di fonte nazionale ed europea e avrà l'opportunità di approfondire la conoscenza di Excel.
This course is designed to introduce students to the use of statistical analysis to evaluate business performance. The topics covered will enable the student to set up and carry out analyses correctly and to communicate the results effectively. The student will learn to translate a business question into a statistical question, to master the proposed statistical methods through knowledge of their theoretical foundations. The students will develop autonomy in the collection and analysis of business statistics from national and European sources and will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Excel.
Durante le lezioni o in sede di esame saranno presentati specifici quesiti aziendali su vari ambiti di attività dell'azienda. Lo studente dovrà dimostrare di essere in grado di tradurre il quesito aziendale in quesito statistico, di impostare e condurre correttamente l'analisi statistica e di comunicarne efficacemente i risultati. Le analisi statistiche dovranno essere condotte con il software Excel, i risultati comunicati oralmente o tramite la redazione di brevi report.
Specific business questions on various areas of the company's activities will be presented during the lectures or in the examination. The student must demonstrate the ability to translate the business question into a statistical question, to set up and correctly conduct the statistical analysis and to communicate the results effectively. Statistical analyses are to be conducted using Excel software, the results communicated orally or by writing short reports.
Al termine del corso, lo studente avrà sviluppato le seguenti competenze
- capacità di interecettare i dati necessari per una determinata analisi consultando le banche dati (della statistica ufficiale e private) presentate durante il corso;
- capacità di tradurre i quesiti aziendali in quesiti statistici;
- capacità di individuare il metodo statistico più idoneo tra quelli proposti durante il corso per effetture una determinata analisi statistica;
- capacità di utilizzare il software Excel per applicare i metodi statistici proposti;
- capacità di interpretare correttamente i risultati delle analisi statistiche realizzate;
- capacità di comunicare efficacemente le conclusioni dell'analisi statistica (brevi report, presentazione con slides, ecc.).
At the end of the course, the student will have developed the following skills and abilities
- be able to intercept and download the data needed for a given analysis from the databases (official and private statistics) presented during the course
- be able to translate business questions into statistical questions
- be able to identify the most appropriate statistical method among those proposed during the course to carry out a given statistical analysis
- ability to use Excel software to apply the proposed statistical methods;
- ability to correctly interpret the results of the statistical analyses illlstrated in the course
- ability to effectively communicate the conclusions of a statistical analysis (short report, presentation with slides, etc.).
L'acquisizione delle capacità sarà verificata sia durante in corso che in sede di esame, sottoponendo agli studenti una serie di esercizi da svolgere al PC. Alcuni esercizi avranno l'obiettivo di verificare la capacità di individuare e scaricare specifiche statistiche contenute nelle banche dati presentate a lezione. Altri esercizi avranno lo scopo di verificare la capacità dello studente di applicare correttamente i metodi statistici presentati utilizzando il software Excel. Infine allo studente sarà chiesto di redigere brevi report con cui comunicare i risultati di un'analisi statistica.
The acquisition of these skills will be tested both during the course and in the examination, through a series of exercises to be carried out on the PC. Some exercises will be designed to test the student's ability to identify and download specific statistics contained in the databases presented in class. Other exercises will aim to test the student's ability to correctly apply the statistical methods presented using the Excel software. Finally, students will be asked to write short reports to communicate the results of a statistical analysis.
Lo studente acquisirà maggior sicurezza nell'affrontare i processi decisionali aziendali attraverso l'utilizzo di analisi quantitative. A tal fine lo studente assumerà un atteggiamento critico nei confronti dei dati, distinguendo quelli di buona e cattiva qualità. Inoltre sarà in grado di interpretare correttamente le principali statistiche sulle aziende proposte dalla statistica ufficiale o divulgate dai media. Lo studente acquisirà autonomia nello svolgere le analisi statistiche in Excel e discuterne in modo argomentato i risultati.
The student will gain confidence in approaching business decision making processes through the use of quantitative analysis. The student will adopt a critical attitude towards data, distinguishing between good and bad quality data. They will be able to correctly interpret the main statistics on businesses provided by official statistics or disseminated by the media. The student will gain autonomy in performing statistical analyses in Excel and discussing the results.
Durante il corso gli studenti saranno invitati ad valutare la qualità di dati aziendali accessibili in rete, ad interpretare correttamente tabelle e report statistici, ad illustrare il procedimento seguito in excel per effettuare determinate analisi statistiche.
During the course, students will be asked to assess the quality of business data available on the internet, correctly interpret statistical tables and reports, and illustrate the procedure used in Excel to perform certain statistical analyses.
Conoscenze di base di statistica descrittiva e inferenziale.
Basic knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics.
Il corso sarà tenuto in italiano, tuttavia l'inglese sarà utilizzato per la consultazione delle banche dati del sistema statistico europeo. Il corso è organizzato in lezioni frontali con l'utilizzo di slide. Le lezioni saranno svolte presso l'aula informatica dove gli studenti utilizzeranno il software Excel per lo svolgimento di esercizi guidati. Potranno essere proposte attività didattiche integrative come la stesura di tesine.
The course will be held in Italian, but English will be used for consultation of the European Statistical System databases. The course is organised in lectures with the use of slides. The lectures will take place in the computer room where the students will be able to use the Excel software to carry out guided exercises. Additional activities may be proposed, such as writing term papers.

L'esame consiste in una prova svolta al PC. Essa prevede tre tipi di attività: 1) intercettazione di particolari statistiche tramite la consultazione di banche dati della statistica ufficiale; 2) svolgimento di esercizi con l'utilizzo di Excel; 3) risposte a quesiti teorici.
The examination consists of a test carried out on a personal computer. It includes three types of activities: 1) obtaining specific statistics by consulting official statistical databases; 2) carrying out exercises using Excel; and 3) answering theoretical questions.
