The main theoretical issues to be addressed will be: the theory of the emergence of the self from the natural sphere, the relationship between mind and body, the attitudes implied by philosophical knowledge
Il corso inframmezzerà lezioni frontali con forme seminariali. Perciò, la verifica delle conoscenze non avverrà soltanto in occasione dell’esame orale finale, bensì anche durante il corso con l’invito costante a partecipare alla discussione con domande e opinioni. Inoltre, per alleggerire il carico di studio per l’esame finale lo studente/la studentessa frequentante potrà preparare una relazione, un saggio originale o la simulazione di un progetto di ricerca (le differenze tra queste due tipologie di testo verranno illustrate dal docente durante il corso).
The class will combine lectures with seminar forms. Therefore, knowledge will be assessed not only in the final oral examination but also during the class with the constant invitation to participate in the discussion with questions and opinions. Furthermore, to lighten the study load for the final examination, the attending student may prepare a report, an original essay or a mock research project (the differences between these two types of text will be explained by the lecturer during the class).

Nessun prerequisito. Si richiede però frequenza assidua e disponibilità a mettersi alla prova partecipando attivamente alla discussione.
No prerequisites. However, assiduous attendance and willingness to challenge oneself by actively participating in the discussion are required.
Il corso si dividerà in due parti:
- La prima sarà dedicata alla lettura di Fenomenologia della percezione di Merleau-Ponty. Avverrà per lo più tramite lezioni frontali in cui verrà stimolata continuamente la partecipazione, ma potremo concordare di occuparsi di alcuni capitoli tramite la forma seminariale della discussione di gruppo (con gli/le studenti/esse che si prenotano sulla piattaforma di e-learning per tenere un intervento sul capitolo; questo permetterà loro di espungere il capitolo dal carico per l’esame).
- Nella seconda parte si organizzeranno tre “tavole rotonde” sui tre gruppi di testi sottoelencati (chi parteciperà alla tavola rotonda non porterà quei testi all’esame).
The class will be divided into two parts:
The first will be devoted to the reading of Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology of Perception. It will take place mostly through lectures in which participation will be continually stimulated, but we can agree to deal with some chapters through the seminar form of group discussion (with students who book themselves on the e-learning platform to give a talk on the chapter; this will allow them to remove the chapter from their exam load).
In the second part, three "round table discussions" will be organized on the three groups of texts listed below (those participating in the round table discussion will not bring those texts to the examination).
Il non-detto della fenomenologia: Merleau-Ponty e la natura come problema fenomenologico
Obiettivo del corso è leggere Fenomenologia della percezione di Merleau-Ponty, discutere l’approccio fenomenologico che sviluppa e i nodi teoretici cruciali che affronta. Ci occuperemo della struttura della percezione, della descrizione fenomenologica del corpo e del mondo percepito, della genesi del linguaggio a partire dal gesto, della formazione del sé. Coinvolgendo nelle tavole rotonde il pensiero di Husserl discuteremo delle differenze con Merleau-Ponty sulla descrizione fenomenologica del corpo vivo, del rapporto tra regione ontica della natura e regione dello spirito, della differenza fra i diversi atteggiamenti che la coscienza può adottare (naturale, naturalistico, personalistico, fenomenologico-trascendentale).
The Un-said of Phenomenology: Merleau-Ponty and the phenomenological problem of nature
The aim of this course is to read Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology of Perception, to discuss the phenomenological approach he develops and the crucial theoretical issues he addresses. We will deal with the structure of perception, the phenomenological description of the body and the perceived world, the genesis of language from gesture, and the formation of the self. Involving Husserl's thought in the round tables, we will discuss the differences with Merleau-Ponty on the phenomenological description of the living body, the relationship between the ontic region of nature and the region of the spirit, the difference between the different attitudes that consciousness can adopt (naturalistic, naturalistic, personalistic, phenomenological-transcendental).
