Ci sarà un test di ingresso per verificare il livello in entrata al corso previsto per il 30 settembre 2016 ore 9:00 presso i laboratori del Polo Fibonacci. Tutti gli studenti che intendono sostenere il laboratorio di lingua inglese B per la prima volta sono pregati di venire a fare il test, indipendentemente dall'effettiva frequenza del corso nel secondo semestre. Ci saranno delle liste apposite.
Il livello di conoscenza della lingua inglese raccomandato in entrata è il livello B1.
Before the beginning of the course, participants will be asked to take a placement test to assess their initial level of proficiency in English. The placement test will take place on September 29, 2016 at the Polo Fibonacci Computer Labs. All students who intend to take the course of “Laboratorio di Lingua inglese B” for the first time are required to sit the placement test, regardless of their intention to attend the lessons in the spring term (February – May). A notice will be posted closer to the date of the placement test with instructions on how to sign up for the test.
The recommended entry proficiency level in English is B1.
Il corso si compone di due parti: 36 ore con la dott.ssa Cappelli e 80 ore con il Collaboratore ed Esperto Linguistico madrelingua (CEL).
Le esercitazioni di lingua con il CEL inizieranno nel primo semestre e proseguiranno fino alla fine del secondo semestre (40 + 40 ore) e saranno condivise con in corso di Lingua inglese per gli studenti del CdS in Informatica Umanistica della prof.ssa Masi. Gli studenti che al test di ingresso del 30 settembre risultassero avere un livello inferiore al livello B1 del Quadro Europeo sono caldamente invitati a frequentare tutte le 80 ore. Tutti sono invitati a frequentare almeno 40 ore di esercitazioni.
Il corso istituzionale con la dott.ssa Cappelli si svolgerà nel secondo semestre (febbraio - marzo 2017).
Un documento con le risposte alle domande più frequenti, uno con le indicazioni per i non frequentanti e uno con le indicazioni su come interpretare i risultati dell'esame scritto saranno presto a disposizione sulla pagina Moodle del corso. The course is made up of two parts: 36 hours of class work with Dr. Cappelli and 80 hours of class work with a English speaking instructor (Collaboratore ed Esperto Linguistico madrelingua - CEL).
The language course with the English speaking instructor will start in September and will last until the end of May (40 hours in the fall term and 40 hours in the spring term). The course is shared by the students enrolled in the Digital Humanities program (Informatica Umanistica). We recommend that students with an initial level of English lower than the B1 level of English (CEFR) attend the full language course (80 hours). All students, regardless of their initial level must attend at least the first 40 hours of language instruction (“lettorato”).
The monographic course by Dr. Cappelli will take place in the spring term (February-May 2017).
A document with answers to the most frequently asked questions, information for students who will not attend the lessons, and a document on how to interpret the test results will be published on the Moodle page for the course. All participants are required to read these documents very carefully and to contact the teachers via email or in person only if they have questions that have not already been answered in one of the documents published online.
Il corso tenuto dalla docente mira a sviluppare le abilità produttive e ricettive per la comunicazione in lingua inglese a livello B1+. Comprende inoltre un modulo teorico relativo allo status della lingua inglese nel mondo. Si discuterà la storia della lingua inglese, dalle sue origini al suo attuale status di lingua globale. Si analizzeranno le principali varietà di inglese e si rifletterà su alcune delle problematiche connesse alla grande diffusione della lingua nel mondo, sia come L1, che come L2 ma anche come Lingua Franca.
The course aims at developing the students’ productive and receptive language skills in English to ensure communication at a B1+ level of the CEFR. The course includes language lessons focusing on listening and reading comprehension and speaking and writing production and theoretical lessons focusing on English as the language of global communication. The theoretical course will introduce the history of English from its origins to its present-day varieties and diffusion. Special attention will be devoted to its status of the world’s lingua franca and some problematic questions will be debated such as the status of English in post-colonial countries, prestige standards vs. new standards, language standards vs. standard language, the relationship between English and minority languages in post-colonial territories, and the relationship between standard English(es) and English as a Lingua Franca.

L'esame per gli studenti non frequentanti è identico a quello per i frequentanti. I non frequentanti possono rivolgersi alla docente in orario di ricevimento per eventuali delucidazioni sul programma d'esame e sulle verifiche finali. Prima di rivolgersi alla docente sono però pregati di leggere il documento con le domande frequenti e quello specificamente creato per rispondere alle domande degli studenti che non possono seguire le lezioni e pubblicati sulla pagina Moodle del corso.
The exam is identical for both attending and non—attending students. All information about the exam format and contents is provided online on Moodle
Non ci sono prerequisiti previsti, ma il livello raccomandato in ingresso, tuttavia, è il livello B1.
L'iscrizione online agli esami è obbligatoria. Non si accettano mail in sostituzione dell'iscrizione on-line né si può accettare (per motivi organizzativi) chi non si è iscritto. Questo per poter avere il numero esatto di studenti che devono fare lo scritto e poterli suddividerli in turni o cercare aule più grandi.
L’esame finale consiste in:
1) una prova scritta al computer (scenta multipla) volta a verificare il raggiungimento del livello previsto in uscita dal Laboratorio (B1+). Il risultato dell'esame scritto rimane valido per un anno solare.
2) una colloquio orale conclusivo. Il colloquio è teso a verificare che lo studente abbia raggiunto le competenze richieste dal livello B1+ del quadro comune di riferimento per le lingue e che sappia discutere le problematiche presentate durante il corso con competenza contenutistica e formale. L'orale si svolge dopo lo scritto, di solitonei giorni successivi, ma sempre nel solito appello. Si può scegliere di sostenere l'orale in un appello successivo, ma comunque entro 12 mesi dal superamento dello scritto.
In order to be admitted to the exam, students must register on the dedicated portal before the deadline. Students who do not comply with the sign-up regulations will not be allowed to take the test.
The final exam consists of:
1) a computerized test (multiple choice questions) to verify the B1+ proficiency level required to access the oral exam. After this test, students must complete the exam within 12 months.
2) an oral test which verifies the B1+ in spoken English and knowledge of the theoretical contents of the course. In order to take this test, students must have obtained a positive result in the computerized test (B1+).
